What if your personal interest is not something you are good at?
If you select a job solely based on your personal interest, there’s a high chance that your interests would fade away over time if there is no result generated from your interest.
Around half of all startups fail within the first 5 years despite them being highly passionate about their visions. Similarly, many started their careers doing what they love, only to realise that their careers aren’t meeting their expectations. If we were to pick something to blame on, it will most likely be due to ‘expertise’.
In the end, your passion would merely be an endless daydreaming. In other words, an inevitable career dead end. Years of undesired performance may also create additional societal pressure, financial burden and ultimately regrets.
In most cases, income is earned only by doing what you are good at. Only by creating a meaningful and stable income can you pursue your passion in the future.
