5 Most Important Things to Bring to A Job Interview in Malaysia!

Quite a number of novices, especially fresh graduates do not know what are the things to bring to a job interview in Malaysia. Below is a list of things required to bring to a job interview in Malaysia, and the reason why you should bring it.

1. Resume

A resume should be the most important documents required for job interview. It is your very first impression for the interviewers.

2. Portfolio

Design student or interviewees that have their own works, should bring some of their works when going for an interview.

Let the interviewer have a look at your works to have a better understanding of your capability, and giving them a sense of reality.

At the same time, they are able to evaluate whether you are suitable for the applied position based on your works.

3. Documents required for job interview: Original and photocopy version of identification card (IC), credentials and certificates

Next, by bringing the original version of your identification card (IC), it makes it easier for the interviewers to verify your identity whereas the photocopy version of your IC is to be kept for record, and facilitate procedures if you are being hired.

Certificates should be considered as one of the most important things to bring to a job interview in Malaysia.

Bringing the original and photocopy version of your secondary (SPM, STPM, A levels, UEC & etc..) and tertiary education graduate certificate (Diploma, Degree, & etc…) could also let the interviewers from having suspicious of you committing fraud.

4. Things to bring to a job interview in Malaysia: Stationery 

If possible, please prepare your own stationery, especially by having a blue or black pen.

By having your own pen, it is easier for you if you are required to fill in forms.

5. Proposal (If any)

A proposal is really important especially for senior-level candidates.

If you want to leave a deep impression for the interviewer, you can propose a proposal or solution based on your understanding of the company’s problems and weakness and what solutions or values that you can bring to the company.

By doing so, the interviewers will be able to feel your passion and interest towards the company and job applied. A proposal is not necessary to bring during an interview, however, if you are able to do so, it will definitely impress the interviewer!

6. Files to compile all the documents

Attach all the important documents required for job interview in a file.

Starts from resume. Then, if you had a university cert, prioritize it and put it at the front of your achievements.

If you don’t have any, then you should arrange it according to the highest education you received, for example, STPM, A-Level, SPM & etc.

After that, you can put in your other professional certifications. Always remember to arrange it according to the importance and relevance of your certificates to the job you are interviewing.

Last but not least, prepare the items above earlier and triple-check that you have the items before leaving your house, and basically you are halfway there. Prepare at least 5 copies of your resume and certificates. As there might be more than one interviewer in a job interview.
