Hosted by Mahsa Avenue International College (MAIC) in conjunction with the ‘Rendezvous Series: Industry Leaders 2022 Resolution – Courage to Rise’ Industry Partnership Programme, this event aimed to provide MAIC undergraduates and fresh graduates crucial entrepreneurial insights to kickstart 2022 with the right mindset.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Exchange Ceremony

The ceremony was held at 2 p.m. between MAHSA Avenue International College (MAIC) and:

This officiates the industry/business partnerships between MAIC and the industry leaders in Malaysia, where more continuous support will be provided between parties and MAIC will be organising more exciting activities for their alumni and existing students in 2022.

Entrepreneurship Sharing Session

After a group photo session, the Entrepreneurship sharing session started at 3 p.m. featuring our Job Majestic Founder Ms. Jess Low, Mr. Fong Yit Meng, Mr. Ariyan Jay Chinniah, and moderated by Mr. Matthew Charles Keough.

Here is the summary of each topic presented in the sharing session:

Topic 1: Entrepreneurship Failure and Success

a. Stay Out of Your Comfort Zone

  • Learning never stops
  • Handle partnership(s) with caution
  • Don’t let society’s definition of “success” define yours

b. Failure and Success

  • Always apply what you have learned, otherwise, you’ve failed to improve
  • You will never know your capabilities without trying
  • Learning from failure is part of the success journey

c. Personal Beliefs

  • Believe in yourself, the process and the outcome
  • Uncertainty in beliefs kills the entrepreneurship spirit
  • Life is all about your perspective 

Topic 2: Must-have Entrepreneurial Skills

a. Your Mindset

  • Determination to achieve success
  • Perseverance even when things go wrong
  • The ability to handle stress
  • Courage to start new initiatives
  • Doing things with purpose

b. People Management

  • Managing the team and hiring the right talents
  • Managing partners and stakeholders
  • Effective Communication skills

Topic 3: Building Entrepreneurial Skills

a. Networking is Crucial

  • Attend events and meet like-minded/better people
  • Discuss potential collaboration
  • It builds confidence and trains communication skills

b. Courage Takes You Further

  • Public speaking takes courage
  • Exploring and managing uncertainties take courage
  • Be courageous and step out of your comfort zone
  • Be ahead of the competition

c. Communication Makes The Dream Work

  • Articulate and deliver your ideas well
  • Conflicts are unavoidable
  • Arguing effectively keeps the spirit going

Topic 4: Learning As An Entrepreneur

a. Learning is NOT an Option

  • A leader must be open to embracing changes and knowledge
  • Materials are highly accessible – Google, Youtube, etc.
  • Do not limit learning – Make it interesting with technology
  • Basic knowledge of everything is a must
  • Be consistent – Courses are a good option

b. Learn About People

  • Listen to the news and others’ stories
  • Understand others’ experiences and learn from them
  • Apply their learnings into your own experience

  • Simplifies process and saves time
  • Do more work with lower cost
  • Cheap and accessible

b. Working with Technology

  • Businesses should digitalise their operations
  • Appreciate and embrace current technologies
  • Strike a balance between technology and logic

After two hours of sharing sessions, we experienced a campus tour before bidding farewell to MAIC and the special guests.
