Work-Life Integration

Work-Life Integration

There’s a lot of talk about work-life balance these days. However, we all are living in a tech-driven world where most of the time work and life are hardly inseparable.

Sometimes when I was having my lunch break in some cozy cafés, I would hear some noises saying that I don’t need to work hard while most people have to work in the office at this hour.

The fact is, they might not know:

  • Building relationships is kind of work.
  • Leveraging resources is kind of work.
  • Brainstorming with peers and mentors is kind of work.
  • Thinking of new strategies is kind of work.

Many people say that we all should strike a balance between work and life, but, the truth is, when you truly enjoy what you’re doing, work life integration makes more sense.

It gives people the opportunity to get creative and identify new possibilities to make things better across all areas of their lives.

If you have noticed, those who practice work-life integration feel less “obligated” to work during non-working hours, resulting in more creativity and effectiveness at work.

Work-life integration also focuses more on goal setting and results in more productivity in the long run.

However, work-life integration isn’t the creeping spread of more work, more hours, and not being able to enjoy our personal lives.

Instead, it’s the opportunity to live each day without compartmentalization.

When done correctly, it can result in less stress and overall fulfillment.
